From SWA Deep South:
The night’s show began with General Manager Blaze making his way to the ring and announcing that over the last month, management had been behind the scenes making some changes. The first of these was that NWA Southeastern, for the foreseeable future would now be known simply as SWA Deep South, a subsidiary of the Southeastern Wrestling Association.
He then noticed that Mason Price, the man he’d just suspended indefinitely was sitting in the crowd. He reminded him that he was not allowed at the event. However, Mason produced a ticket and stated that he was a paying member of the crowd and there was nothing Blaze could do about that.
“The Remedy” Will Hall then introduced to the ring…SWA Deep South Senior Referee Kyle Dubbya. Dubbya stepped into the ring and began to recant the events of the end of the last show in Pavo just one month ago. He said that Mason had held back his father and forced him to watch while he assaulted Dubbya…on his father’s birthday no less.
Dubbya continued by saying that he was proud of his body of work in this business, but he could not allow himself or his family to be put in that predicament again. He stated that while he could wrestle Price…he did not have Mason’s training…and would not be stupid enough to step in the ring with Mason.
So, with a heavy heart…he told Price and the people of Pavo that after he refereed the main event on that night, he would be stepping down as SWA Deep South Senior Referee.
This was met with elation and a goodbye chant from Mason. As Dubbya began to leave to a chorus of fans telling him to reconsider, Kyle was met with the arrival of…”Flash ‘n’ Cash” Hayden Price coming from the entrance way.
He began laughing and fake crying about Dubbya’s announcement. He then stated that if he had been there a month prior, he would have made sure that Dubbya did not return.
He turned his attention to the thorn in his side known as Effy. He said that he would no longer be giving Effy anymore Title chances. He said that Effy would need to start at the bottom and climb the proverbial “ladder” to get to him again. He said that this would start later tonight.
Suddenly, he was cut-off by the arrival of…The Hardway Brothers. They reminded Mason that last month they’d attempted to injure them and send them into early retirement. They said they wanted revenge…and that they would do anything they had to do to get their hands on the Deep South Tag Team Champions!
Once the ring was cleared, the first match was announced to be a tag team match. The two teams would be Ryan Phoenix & “Delicious” Don Yoder taking on the Knightmare Syndicates’ Aiden & Alexander Knight. Aiden looked to have the match won, but Ryan was able to duck a kick from Knight. Phoenix then pushed Aiden into his brother Alexander. Aiden was able to stop himself short of hitting Alex, but Yoder quickly pulled Alex off the apron. With the momentary distraction of Aiden & Referee David Lee, Phoenix was able to hit a low blow for the illegitimate but decisive win on this occasion.
The next match of the evening was set to be a fatal 4-way match with no disqualifications. This match was to help determine the #1 contender for the Deep South Cruiserweight Championship, currently held by Re-Genesis member Hunter Law. The matches participants included Bred 4 War members Chris Spyder & Fatality, “The #1 Stunnuh” Dark Rage, and “The PopStar” Johnny Romano. B4W banded together to try and show dominance, but Rage & Romano worked together to fend them off. However, Johnny quickly turned on Rage, telling him that he wanted to win to get the Title he felt he never should have lost. Following finisher after finisher, it was Johnny hitting Rage with the Pop Drop. Before he could make the pin, though, Hayden Price ran down and knocked Johnny to the mat. Price then dragged the lifeless body of…Spyder on top for Rage for the win. As the referee struggled to get Chris to his feet and raise his arm, the other 3 men in the match looked on in much the same bewilderment as Spyder did.
The third match of the night saw Ox Haney, the undisputed SWA Heavyweight Champion, defending against a very familiar opponent in Street Bandit. Early on, it was clear that Bandit planned to use his handcuffs and use his regular dirty tactics. However, Haney found them hiding in a turnbuckle pad and had them taken from ringside. Street was not happy with this and proceeded to try and take down Haney by working and debilitating the arm the Champion uses to perform his Never Wake Up Finisher. Ox fought back, attempted one NWU but was unable to get the pin because of using his already injured arm. After a bit more damage to Haney’s arm, the defending Champion was finally able to hit the NWU and used the good arm to roll up Bandit for the win.
In what could be called a wrestling clinic, the masked sensation known as Lucha Locura took on a true professional of wrestling, Santos. Locura used his quick thinking and speed to take the early advantage. However, Santos was able to gain the upper hand, slowing things down and going after the leg of Locura. Santos used a plethora of maneuvers to try and take out the leg of Locura, but somehow Lucha was able to hit an amazing superkick to a seated Santos. He then gingerly picked up Santos and was able to hit the Locura Driver for the win.
The scheduled main event was set to be “The Feminist Icon” Effy in his first match on a quest to get another Title shot at Hayden Price. His first opponent: Zane Stevens. Stevens’ plan was to make this night a long one for the Weapon of Sass Destruction. The two men went back and forth, taking the battle and showing why both men had received numerous Title opportunities in promotions all over the southeast. As Effy attempted his rainmaker boot, Zane countered and attempted to reverse it. However, it was Effy who reversed it again and was able to successfully connect with his rainmaker boot for the win.
As Referee Dubbya helped Eff to his feet and raised his hand in victory, tears began to fall as the realization came that this was really going to be Dubbya’s last match refereeing for the good people of Pavo. The two shared an embrace as the crowd in attendance began to chant “Please Don’t Go” as Dubbya waved to the crowd and headed out of the ring to give Effy his moment of victory.
As Effy stood in the ring, though, he was attacked from behind by…Mason Price?! As he began waylaying Effy with the chair, the Hardway Brothers emerged from the curtain and Mason scurried out of the ring. He was soon joined by fellow Re-Genesis member Hayden Price.
Dillinger & Marcus grabbed the mic and told Mason that the beating and sneak attacks…and attempts to injure anyone, not in Re-Genesis…was going to stop! With that, they challenged Mason to face them…right then and right there!
Mason said that he was suspended and that Hayden had been given the night off. So, they were leaving and there was nothing to be proven by them.
As they began to leave, General Manager Blaze came out and told them…once again…that he was in charge…not them. He said that with his stake in SWA, overseeing divisions in Florida, Georgia, & Alabama, he was going to have to delegate some of his duties. He continued by saying that he felt the decision of what to do with the Hardways and Mason Price would be the perfect way for the new SWA Deep South commissioner he’d appointed to introduce himself and enforce his new power.
With that, music began to fill the arena as the Pavo faithful awaited the arrival of the new commissioner. Finally, a figure backs out of the curtain and revealed himself to be…Kyle Dubbya?!
The crowd erupted as the Hardways celebrated in the ring and Mason Price began the stomp the ground and look away unable to believe what had just transpired.
Dubbya stepped in the ring and reminded Mason of what he’d said earlier in the night. He’d said that some would like and dislike his decision…and he saw Price’s reaction when he came out and knew Mason was not happy.
He was reminded that Mason was suspended so he could not wrestle that night. Dubbya agreed…then said that he would just have to lift Mason’s suspension! He then said that if Mason refused to wrestle tonight…not only would he be stripped of the belt…but he would be banished from Deep South…forever!
Mason, with no other options, & Hayden stepped into the ring and began to battle with the Hardway Brothers. After somehow getting the upper hand, Mason & Hayden proceeded to literally “bury” the Hardways in a sea of steel chairs.
Finally, Effy led the locker room, both bad & good, to the ring to run the Re-Genesis members out of the ring. He then told them that the locker room was united…against Re-Genesis…and would no longer allow them to do whatever they want to whomever they want whenever they wanted! He continued by saying if they showed their faces in Pavo again…they would have to deal…with all of them!
As the show came to a close, the final moments saw the Hardways saying that they wanted to end this…in any match…to finally get the Deep South Tag Team Champions in a match and Commissioner Dubbya telling them to follow him to go see what they could do.
What will happen to Re-Genesis now that the locker room members, both bad & good, are now united against Re-Genesis?
How will Re-Genesis respond to Effy’s proclamation?
Will the Hardway Brothers finally get their match with Mason Price & Tony Storm?
We may not know until the next time SWA Deep South returns to the Peacock Center.
However, SWA Hybrid will return to Midland City, AL Saturday night, September 23rd.
The stars of SWA will be out on that night. Will you?!
